How to find out how much a home is really worth

A home is ultimately worth what someone will pay for it. Everything else is an estimate of value. The most common way of determining a home's value is to have an appraisal on the house or a comparative market analysis. Don't worry, the lender making the loan for your purchase also wants to make sure you don't overpay for your new house. Since it is also an investment for the lender they will require that an appraisal be performed on the house and is subject to their approval.
